The risk mamagement research has became a hot subject in the domain of disaster prevention and mitigation as the works changed from ＂passively relieve disaster＂ to ＂active prevention＂ in recent years. In this paper, the research grogress of the earthquake disaster risk assessment is reviewed, and the shortcomings of some precent methods are pointed out also. Then, the method of urban earthquake hazard assessment based on the earthquake microzonation, the method of seismic vulnerability assessment based on urban landuse types, and the method of disaster prevention and mitigation capacity assessment based on expert scoring are presented. At last, the flow of the urban earthquake disaster risk assessment is designed, and its arithmetic is given.
