Investigating recent activity behavior and paleoseismic event completeness of the Linze fault using unmanned aerial vehicle imagery

    摘要:

    活动断裂古地震事件的完整性是认识断裂活动习性,评价其未来强震危险性的重要基础。基于高分辨率影像解译活动断裂微地貌特征,可以与古地震探槽方法互补,共同构建完整的地震复发模型。以河西走廊中段榆木山北缘的临泽断裂为研究对象,基于无人机摄影测量方法生成高精度地形地貌数据,通过详细的活动断裂断错地貌解译,并沿断裂带测量90组冲洪积扇上保存的线性断层陡坎的单次或多期次累积垂直位错值,得到累积位移概率分布(COPD)曲线,获取其垂直位错分组特征。沿断裂共确定6次累积位移峰值,分别为0.5、0.9、1.5、2.1、2.7、3.3 m,揭示临泽断裂在更新世晚期以来可能经历至少6次震级为 MS6.6~7.0的古地震事件,由此对比分析前人古地震探槽方法揭示的古地震事件的完整性。参考探槽确定的古地震事件年代结果,其最新一次地震事件发生在距今2.1~2.5 ka。基于以上分析,临泽断裂具有特征地震复发模式,其构造活动不断向断裂两侧和盆地内部挤压拓展。综合复发模式和离逝时间分析,临泽断裂最新一次地震事件的时间接近其复发周期,具有较高的强震危险性。

    Abstract:

    The completeness of paleoseismic events on active faults is fundamental for understanding fault activity behavior and assessing future seismic hazards. Interpretation of the microgeomorphological characteristics of active faults based on high-resolution images can complement traditional paleoseismic trenching methods for reconstructing comprehensive earthquake recurrence models. Focusing on the Linze fault at the northern Yumushan fault in the central Hexi Corridor, this study generates high-precision topographic data via unmanned aerial vehicle photogrammetry. A detailed interpretation of faulted landforms and measurement of 90 sets of vertical displacement values (single or cumulative) preserved on alluvial-pluvial fans along the Linze fault reveal a cumulative offset probability distribution curve showing its vertical offset clustering characteristics. Six peak accumulated offsets of 0.5, 0.9, 1.5, 2.1, 2.7, and 3.3 m were identified along the Linze fault, revealing that this fault may have experienced at least six paleoseismic events with MS6.6-7.0 since the Late Pleistocene. Comparative analysis with the paleoseismic event completeness revealed by previous trenching studies shows the most recent event occurred at 2.1-2.5 ka BP. The Linze fault exhibits a characteristic earthquake recurrence pattern, with tectonic compression propagating laterally and into the basin interior. According to a comprehensive analysis of the recurrence pattern and elapsed time, the latest seismic event of the Linze fault is near its recurrence interval, indicating a high risk of strong earthquakes.
