    Abstract:

A lot of physical mechanism explaining earthquake lightning depends on the condition of high temperature rise when an earthquake crack propagating. This work has studied the temperature fields near a running crack tip from the theory of dynamic fracture mechanics. The numerical results have shown that when an earthquake is occurring, the temperature rise near the propagating crack tip may reach several hundred to near one thousand degree.
