China Earthquake Engineering Journal (Bimonthly) was renamed from the former Northwestern Seismological Journal, which was founded in 1979. Its full texts are included by a lot of databases such as China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Chinese Science Citation Database (CSCD), Source Journal for Chinese Scientific and Technical Papers and Citations Database (CSTPCD), and Chinese Electronic Periodical Services (CEPS), etc.

The journal focuses on the latest research achievements and progress in earthquake engineering and earthquake science, including the geotechnical earthquake engineering, lifeline earthquake engineering, structural earthquake engineering, soil dynamics and geotechnical earthquake engineering, engineering earthquake, and urban-rural integrated earthquake prevention and disaster reduction, as well as seismogeology, geophysics, geodesy, earthquake monitoring and prediction, and instrument development.
